Raja Yoga is the umbrella name for the structural signature of authority in classical Vedic astrology. The kendras (1/4/7/10) are the houses of stability and visibility; the trikonas (1/5/9) are the houses of dharma and luck. When the lord of a kendra and the lord of a trikona join forces, the chart inherits a geometric mandate for influence.
Hundreds of specific Raja Yogas exist, each named for the particular configuration. The 'general' Raja Yoga refers to any kendra-trikona connection. The strength of the yoga depends on (a) the dignity of both lords, (b) whether they are in dignity in the houses they meet in, and (c) whether benefics support or malefics dilute the connection.
Modern translations land on people of sustained authority — politicians, executives, founders, judges, civic leaders, public intellectuals. The yoga doesn't promise effortless ascent; it promises that when the chart reaches for influence, the geometry can support it.

When it’s blunted
Either lord weak, debilitated, or afflicted by malefics dilutes the yoga. The mandate is in the chart but the chart cannot meet it cleanly.

A kendra-lord and a trikona-lord (other than the same planet) are conjoined, mutually aspecting, in mutual exchange (parivartana), or one occupies the other's house. The 9th-and-10th-lord version is the most discussed (see Dharma Karmadhipati).

Raja Yoga is classified as auspicious in the classical tradition. When present and supported by the rest of the chart, it tends to add visible structural strength.
