Vish ('poison') Yoga is the classical name for the Saturn-Moon affliction. Saturn slows and restricts; the Moon governs emotion and the felt sense of safety. Their conjunction produces a chart whose emotional life carries chronic weight — slower, denser, more melancholic than the temperament's surrounding circumstances would predict.
The classical reading is depression-prone temperament, chronic worry, difficulty with maternal relationships, and the sense that emotion itself is heavier than peers report. Modern practitioners read Vish Yoga in many depressive-trait charts and counsel work with the Moon (mantra, charity, Monday observance) alongside conventional support for the depression.
Distinguished from Kemdrum (the unsupported Moon), Vish Yoga is specifically about the Saturn affliction. Both can coexist; both ask for sustained inner work; both respond to conscious attention rather than fortune-cookie reassurance.

When it’s blunted
Unaddressed Vish tends to recur as cyclical depressive episodes. Both classical (mantra, vrat) and modern (therapy, psychiatric care) responses are appropriate.

Saturn and the Moon are conjunct in the same sign (within 8°) or in close aspect (within 5° of an exact aspect). The yoga is heaviest when no benefic aspects either planet.

Vish Yoga is classified as challenging in the classical tradition. It describes a structural friction pattern that asks for conscious work — not a verdict, but a domain to be aware of.
